Makita Introduces 18V LXT Cordless 9″ Battery. Drywall Sander from: Makita USA, Inc.

The XLS01ZX1 cordless drywall sander features a speed control knob and an 18V 5.0Ah battery (sold separately) for up to 35 minutes of use on a single charge.
The Makita 18V LXT (XLS01ZX1) brushless cordless drywall sander provides performance and mobility for drywall finishers and professional builders. The compact and lightweight design allows people to use the XLS01ZX1 for a long time.
The tool provides up to 35 minutes of operation on a single charge of an 18V 5.0Ah battery (sold separately). Users can adjust the speed according to the application by using the speed control knob (from 1000 to 1800 rpm). Constant speed control automatically provides additional engine power to maintain speed under load. The XLS01ZX1 has a round brush to remove dust and minimize leaks.
The large flexible head is designed to work in various wall directions. The BL direct drive brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, allowing the motor to run at lower temperatures. The adjustable extension tube folds up for sanding in tight spaces like a washroom and extends 16-1/2 inches to reach high walls and ceilings. Removable dust brush for flush sanding diagonal edges.
The tool is equipped with Automatic Wireless System Start (AWS) technology. AWS uses Bluetooth technology for wireless communication between tool and assembler (sold separately). Pressing the trigger on the AWS-equipped XLS01 launches the AWS-equipped dust collector. When the trigger is released, the dust collector will be de-energized. AWS is an intelligent communication system that eliminates the need for wires and unnecessary noise, since the dust collector only works when the tool is running.
To improve tool performance and battery life, Makita created the Star Protection computer control. Star Protection is a communication technology that allows tools and batteries equipped with Star Protection to communicate in real time and monitor conditions during use to prevent overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For versatility, the tool can also be powered by a Makita 18V LXT battery and a compact Li-Ion battery, the star symbol on the battery indicates star protection.
